Arles

The crisis seams to have cut even the days, or at least mine seam to be shorter this year. I have so many things I would like to tell you about, but I never have enough time to post.  Anyway, less complaining and more writing! Today I wanted to show you another place I visited when I was in the Provence: Arles.

It's been more than a week since a came from my beautiful holidays in The Provance. It seams for ages, but I haven't had enough time to keep you posted... and I still have so much to tell you about...

After a week in Marseille, we moved to Aix-en-Provence. From the committed, fighter and maritime Marseille to the romantic, bourgeoise and bucolic Aix.

Another charming district  is Le Panier, the most ancient area of the city. In Greek Marseille (Massilia) it was the site of the agora (marketplace), hence its name, which means ‘the basket’.

Built on the site of the ancient Greek Massalia, the Panier is a typically Mediterranean district with colour-washed facades. The historic refuge of seafarers and generations of immigrants, the Panier is a peaceful haven, still working-class.

Shopping in Marseille

When you travel there is a huge excitement on discovering all what you have read about, on having your own emotions in front of monuments with year of history, on walking through streets where big thinkers have walked before and on seeing the faces of those who make possibte that place the way is now.

Another important incentive is to discover great treasures you can't find  elsewhere, or, in other words, go shopping!
