When in Rome... (II)

Bigfoot, Moriarty, Gilberta and I woke up in sunny beautiful Rome with the 8th passenger inside our personal happiness bubble, my huge foot. We could hardly fit him inside my lovely Russian Doll sneakers and make him walk for hours. But we did and this is how we all 4 together spend a friendly day in Rome.

When you grow older is more difficult to make friends. We become more and more demanding and even a little picky. Usually people keep their childhood's friends, but if you don't live in your hometown and you have been traveling for years, like me, the contact with those friends get reduced to phonecalls, facebook and a couple of visits a year. That's why Moriarty and Gilberta are so important to me. We know each other for about four years, and they have become my family here.

I still remember how I met Gilberta. We were a bunch of people discussing about the color of a t-shirt when, Gilberta and I scream at the same time: aubergine! People did look at us weirdly but, since that moment, we became friends. Moriarty was Gilberta's outstanding acquisition. I remember the first time I met her. I immediately asked Gilberta where did she find this perfect friend for us. Love at first sight! This was our first travel all 3 together. I hope the first of lots to come.

Besides the most typical monuments of the city, we wanted to visit Trastevere neighbourghood. None of us had been there and it became the motto of our sightseeing tour. It took us a while finding S. Maria in Trastevere (none of us had a very good sense of orientation). We found a nice postcard even before the square. We decided to emulate the same picture when finally finding it. It was very funny to see our friendly photographers looking at the postcard while trying to get the perfect angle for our purposes. The picture came actually quite well, don't you think?

When it started to be dark and cold, we decided to take a coffee. We enter the first cafe we liked and it happened to be a theatre with the most eclectic clientele. We made up hundreds of stories about the people inside. A priest, an exprisoner, a painter's muse, an old rich widow, etc.
