One day in Cologne

Last year, after our days at the Appletree Garden Festival, we spent a day visiting Bremen. This time, we decided to spend a day in Cologne. We arrived Sunday afternoon and flew back to Barcelona Monday afternoon. Almost an entire day to explore the city.

Cologne is the fourth largest city in Germany (after Berlin, Hamburg and Munich). It was not my first time, in fact, it was my third time visiting the city. But I just have memories about parks, Colognian beer and the cathedral! In fact, the first time I came, Germany was still divided!

We stayed in a hotel near the station: City Pension Storch II. A hotel with rooms that are mini-apartments with a small kitchen and bathroom. Rooms are simple, but nice and centrally located. We took a city map at the tourist office for € 0.50 and walked aimlessly.

We visited the cathedral, walk through the old town, went through the shopping area and saw the peculiar Cologne Opera, that fascinated me! Unfortunately, I was under construction and could not take a picture of any other angle. But, as you can see, it is quite curious and looks very soviet.

Opera

Cologne is surrounded by countless parks and bridges spanning the Rhine. We went through the art galleries and designer shops area. Walking we arrived at what we consider our favorite part of the city: the Belgian quarter, full of shops, cafes and alternative business proposals. Undoubtedly, the YO cafe is a must if you need some rest.

Soon I will bring you information about my stay in Taipei! Happy weekend!
