Those of you, who follow me on Instagram, have already seen that I've spent a few days in Rotterdam! It was a very casual and improvised trip but I tried to make the most of it (of course!). I didn't have any preconceived ideas of Rotterdam, in fact, I didn't know much about this city. Even if I organized everything in a very short time, I discovered many interesting things that I'll explain you in several posts.
Los que me seguis en Instagram, ya habéis visto que he pasado unos días en Róterdam! Fue un viaje bastante casual e improvisado pero que he intentado aprovechar al máximo (como no!). La verdad es que no tenía ninguna idea preconcebida de Róterdam, de hecho, no sabía mucho sobre esta ciudad. Todo lo organicé en unos pocos días, sin embargo, he descubierto muchas cosas interesantes que os iré contando en más de un post.

Rotterdam was completely bombed during the II World War, so there are a very few remaining old buildings. As you can see in the pictures, the city was rebuilt almost from scratch with a surreal landscape of spectacular skyscrapers. Along with its status as a port city (in fact, it is the largest in Europe and second worldwide after Shanghai) Rotterdam has some features that make it a very special city.
Róterdam fue bombardeado completamente durante la II Guerra Mundial, por lo que prácticamente no quedan edificios antiguos. Cómo veis en las fotos, la ciudad fue reconstruida casi de cero con un sinfín de espectaculares edificios que crean un paisaje surrealista. Junto con su condición de ciudad portuaria (de hecho, es el puerto más grande de Europa y segundo del mundo. El de Shanghai es el más grande) Róterdam posee unas características que la convierten en una ciudad muy peculiar.
I stayed at the King Kong Hostel, which I totally recommend! It's beautiful, the staff is super friendly and is in one of the most beautiful areas of Rotterdam: Witte de Withstraat. You can see here how amazing are their facilities.

As everything was quite improvised and I didn't have much time to plan my route, I used an app that I totally recommend: Rotterdam Routes. In this app you will find many routes for walking around the city, with its map, points of interest and even a voice that tells you what you're seeing. GREAT!
Como todo fue bastante improvisado y no tuve mucho tiempo de planificar mi ruta, utilicé una app que os recomiendo totalmente: Rotterdam Routes. En esta app encontrarás varias rutas para hacer a pie por la ciudad, con su mapa, los puntos de mayor interés e incluso una voz que te explica lo que vas viendo. GENIAL!
Practical information:
1. The best way to reach Rotterdam is flying to Amsterdam. Straight from the airpot you can take a direct train to the city center of Rotterdam. The price is €12.90 for the normal train that takes 52' or €15.20 for the express one that takes 27'.
2. A bed in a mixed dormitory room at the King Kong Hostel cost me 21€ / night.
3. The shops are open on Sundays (12pm-6pm mostly)
4. Mondays and Tuesdays are the days where you can find most things closed.
5. There are many open wifi spots in the city!
6. Visa Electron isn't accepted almost anywhere :(
Datos prácticos:
1. Para llegar a Róterdam lo mejor es volar a Amsterdam y tomar un tren desde el mismo aeropuerto al centro de Róterdam. El precio es de 12,90€ el tren normal que tarda 52' o el express que cuesta 15,20€ y tarda 27'.
2. Una cama en habitación compartida en el King Kong Hostel me costo 21€/noche.
3. Las tiendas abren también los domingos (de 12h-18h la mayoría)
4. Lunes y martes son los días donde más cosas podéis encontrar cerradas.
5. Hay wifi abierto en muchos puntos de la ciudad!
6. No aceptan prácticamente en ningún sitio Visa Electron.
