La Belle Vie en Provence

After a week in Marseille, we moved to Aix-en-Provence. From the committed, fighter and maritime Marseille to the romantic, bourgeoise and bucolic Aix.

Marseille was the heart of this trip. The city I desperately wanted to visit.  A city that inspired me for its history, its multiculturalism, its distinctiveness from the rest of France, for being transgressive, rebellious and an outcast city within the hexagon. I imagined Marseille best friend of two of my most beloved cities: Naples and Palermo.

Marseille has not disappointed me and Aix has conquered me! A wonderful city with an architecture that makes you dream of long summer evenings on the terrace, tasting a good red wine and a local selection of cheese. Aix is located in idyllic surroundings of green fields, stone houses with colorful shutters, fresh flowers on the balconies and the smell of lavender everywhere. All with a refined taste that is not pretentious, that makes you feel that people here know how to enjoy the good life in the everyday pleasures.

One of the surprises of this trip was the discovery of this villa and its gardens: the Pavillon Vendôme. The history of the building is also very interesting. The building was commissioned by Louis de Mercœur, Duke of Vendôme, in 1665 and finished two years later. The Duke of Vendôme had it built to hide his passionate romance with Lucrèce de Forbin-Solliès, known as la Belle du Canet. Both were widowed, however, King Louis XIV was opposed to their marriage because he saw that relationship with foreboding, as the duke was widowed of the niece of the Cardinal, adviser of the court. They could enjoy the villa only for 2 years since the Duke die in 1669, legend says because of  "too much love".

When I saw these wonderful dungarees at Bershka, I knew they were perfect for my days in the Provence! I was just waiting for Aix and some of its most romantic and evocative environments to wear them. In fact, I think it was this jumpsuit itself that led me to these idyllic gardens and made the sun came up just when we arrived. You already know my favorite shoes which made the perfect Bershka total look for evocative and romantic tourism ☺

In such a wonderful place, I couldn't avoid doing another statue-pose-of-the-day! In fact, I found the perfect place to do it, in a stand that formerly housed a real statue! My pose is not a very statue pose, but this jumpsuit makes it wonderful! ☺
