Calçotada at Mora de Ebro

As you already know from previous posts, there is a Catalan tradition of which I am a true fan, the calçotada! This typical meal consists of eating a variety of scallion called calçot that is roasted directly on flames and eaten by hand, seasoned with a special sauce called romesco. Then, the embers are used to roast meats and sausages for the second course. The season begins in winter and goes until the beginning of spring. There is nothing I like more than going on a calçotada with friends, especially if it is a rural outdoor environment.

Como mucho ya sabéis por anteriores posts, hay una tradición catalana de la que soy muy fan, la calçotada! Esta comida típica de aquí consiste en comer una variedad de cebolleta llamada calçot que se asa directamente sobre llamas y se come con la mano, aderezados con una salsa especial llamada romesco. Después, las brasas se aprovechan para asar carnes y embutidos para el segundo plato. La época inicia en invierno y va hasta principio de la primavera. No hay nada que me guste más que ir de calçotada con amigos, sobre todo si es un entorno rural al aire libre.

Maldives (the paradise) on a budget

Our trip to Maldives was similar (relatively speaking) to the island of Arousa, totally unexpected. A boring weekend, in the mood for beach and sea and my friend Natalia that never fails (and is ready for anything!). We were looking for a nearby destination with good weather and ended up booking a flight to a country that was more than 20 hours flight away: Maldives!

Nuestro viaje a las Maldivas fue similar (salvando las distancias) al de la Isla de Arousa, totalmente inesperado. Un finde aburrido, ganas de playa y mar y mi amiga Natalia que nunca falla (y se apunta a todo!) Buscábamos un destino cercano con buen tiempo y acabamos reservando un vuelo a un país que estaba a más de 20 horas de viaje: Maldivas!

Ladies night with La Luz at Apolo [2]

Finally we managed to find time for a concert night together! This time Vicky (#ParanoiaGirls) couldn't come :( but Natalia (#PanavisionPets) came instead. Alex, Natalia and I went to Apolo's [sala 2] to see La Luz live who played alongside Zephyr Bones and Boogarins .

Por fin volvimos a encontrar un hueco para salir de concierto! Esta vez Vicky (#ParanoiaGirls) no pudo venir :( pero en su lugar vino Natalia (#PanavisionPets). Alex, Natalia y yo fuimos a la sala 2 del Apolo a ver en directo a La Luz que tocaban junto a Zephyr Bones y Boogarins. 

Chaouen, the blue pearl

My friend Tania told me that we couldn't go to Tangier and not visit Chefchaouen. And so we did! Chefchaouen was founded by a small Berber population. Its original population was composed mainly of exiles from al-Andalus, that's why the old part of the city is very similar to those of Andalusian villages, with narrow streets of irregular shape and whitewashed houses. Its main feature is that all houses are whitewashed in blue, Chefchaouen's blue as we nicknamed it.

Mi amiga Tania me dijo que no podíamos volver de Tánger sin visitar Chaouen, y ¡así lo hicimos! Chaouen fue fundada por una pequeña población bereber. Su población original estuvo compuesta sobre todo por exiliados de al-Ándalus, razón por la cual la parte antigua de la ciudad tiene una apariencia muy similar a la de los pueblos andaluces, con pequeñas callejuelas de trazado irregular y casas encaladas. Su principal característica es que todas sus casa están encaladas en color azul, azul Chaouen como lo apodamos.

Tangier, gates to Morocco

Last week we repeated an improvised journey. Do you remember my trip to Isla de Arousa with Natalia, the other half of #PanavisionPets... We planned this trip same way but with a new member: Vicky! December 28th (Fool's Day in Spain) Natalia sent us a list of destinations with cheap flight options. Tangier won with majority (must have been the cold winter that made us dream of sun, palm trees and exotic destinations). Shall I buy it? - asked Natalia. - Do it! - exclaimed Vicky and I at unison. Seconds later we had our tickets in the mail. The rest is on this post.

La semana pasada volvimos a repetir viaje improvisado. No se si acordáis de mi viaje a la Isla de Arousa con Natalia, la otra mitad de #PanavisionPets... Pues este viaje empezó de la misma manera pero con una nueva integrante: ¡Vicky! El 28 de diciembre (día de los inocentes en España) Natalia nos mando un listado de destinos con vuelos baratos. Tánger ganó por mayoría (debía ser el frío invernal que nos hacía soñar con sol, palmeras y destinos exóticos). ¿Compro? - nos preguntó Natalia. - ¡Vale! - exclamamos Vicky y yo al unísono. Segundos más tarde teníamos nuestros billetes en el mail. Lo demás os lo cuento aquí.

Things to do and see in Seoul

Today I add a new country on the DESTINATIONS category: Korea! I really wanted to show you this trip, but between jet lag, various household chores and problems with my wifi... I couldn't until now! I spent five days in Seoul with my other half, Natalia, and my Korean friend (and best host in the world) Joo Yeon. Ah! and I had breakfast with Damien Rice!

Hoy añado un nuevo país a la categoría DESTINOS: Corea! Tenía muchas ganas de mostraros este viaje, pero entre el jet lag, tareas domésticas varias y que el wifi no funcionaba... no he podido hasta hoy! He pasado 5 días en Seúl con mi otra mitad, Natalia, y con mi amiga coreana (y mejor anfitriona del mundo) Joo Yeon. Ah! y he desayunado junto a Damien Rice!

Hace poco pasamos un fin de semana en una cabaña perdida en el monte. Fueron unos días de cuento, totalmente mágicos, perdidos en la naturaleza y sin conexión de ningún tipo. No había señal de teléfono, ni wifi, ni TV, ni ordenadores... simplemente la naturaleza en estado puro. Un fin de semana de reconexión con el planeta.
