Tiny towns surrounded by lavender: Ménerbes, Apt, Rustrel & Lourmarin

On our third day in the heart of lavender, we decided to head to Rustrel without much planning. We wanted to discover lavender fields and small Provencal villages and enjoy swimming in our wonderful house in Provence, before reaching Lourmarin at sunset. A relaxing day.

En nuestro tercer día en el corazón de la lavanda, decidimos dirigirnos hacia Rustrel sin mucha planificación. Queríamos seguir descubriendo campos de lavanda, pequeños pueblos provenzales y, disfrutar de la piscina de nuestra maravillosa casa en la Provenza, antes de llegar a Lourmarin al atardecer. Un día relajado.

First we stopped at Menerbes, a village that despite its name, was super friendly and nice. Less touristy than many of the villages we had visited and, therefore, more authentic. It is another beautiful town of the Provence, so, you can stop here or in any other that will come on your way. Although at Ménerbes there was the classic sign: un des plus beaux villages de France!

Primero paramos en Ménerbes, un pueblo, que a pesar de su nombre, era super agradable y bonito. Menos turístico que muchos de los pueblos que ya habíamos visitado y, por lo tanto, más auténtico. Es un pueblo más de la Provenza, donde todos lo pueblos son bonitos y, lo mismo puedes para en éste, que en cualquier otro que os venga de camino. Aunque éste tenía el clásico cartel de: un des plus beaux villages de France!

From here we continue towards Rustrel, stopping at Apt. Our visit to Apt was also quite random. We had seen that it was in the center of the Luberon and, after seing it on thousand traffic signals, we decided to stop by. The historic center has its charm, but it is totally expendable.

De aquí nos dirigimos hacia Rustrel parando en Apt. Nuestra visita a Apt fue también bastante aleatoria. Habíamos visto que estaba en el centro del Luberon y, tras ver siempre miles de indicaciones para llegar, decidimos parar. El centro histórico tiene su encanto, pero es totalmente prescindible.

From here we went to Rustrel, famous for its Provencal Colorado, former ocher quarries of multiple colors. The parking costs 5€ and the entrance 6€. As we had seen the Ochre Path the day before at Rousillon, we decided not to go and to only visit the tiny village. You will find a lot of lavender around the village!

De aquí fuimos a Rustrel que, como Roussillon, es famoso por su Colorado Provenzal, antiguas canteras de ocres de múltiples colores. El parking para acceder tiene un coste de 5€ y la entrada al recinto 6€. Como ya habíamos visto el día anterior los senderos de ocre de Rousillon, decidimos no entrar y visitar únicamente el pueblito minúsculo. En los alrededores del pueblo encontraréis muchísima lavanda!

After resting a few hours at the pool in our Provencal house, we went to Lourmarin to watch the sunset and have diner there! Lourmarin is a very nice town where I've been before. You can read more about it here. We had dinner at a highly recommended restaurant called La Louche à Beurre where you can combine meat dishes at French prices (between 22€ - 30€) with crêpes for less than 10€ achieving to eat at a very correct price for such a nice place in this very unique town. We loved it!

Tras descansar unas horas en la piscina de nuestra casa provenzal, nos fuimos a Lourmarin a ver el atardecer y cenar allí! Lourmarin es un pueblo muy bonito en el que ya estuve hace tiempo y podéis leer más aquí. Cenamos en un restaurante muy recomendable llamado La Louche À Beurre donde puedes combinar platos de carne precio francés que rondan los 22€-30€, con crêpes de menos de 10€ y comer, así a un precio bastante correcto para un sitio tan bonito en un pueblo tan especial. Nos encantó!
