Calçotada at Mora de Ebro

As you already know from previous posts, there is a Catalan tradition of which I am a true fan, the calçotada! This typical meal consists of eating a variety of scallion called calçot that is roasted directly on flames and eaten by hand, seasoned with a special sauce called romesco. Then, the embers are used to roast meats and sausages for the second course. The season begins in winter and goes until the beginning of spring. There is nothing I like more than going on a calçotada with friends, especially if it is a rural outdoor environment.

Como mucho ya sabéis por anteriores posts, hay una tradición catalana de la que soy muy fan, la calçotada! Esta comida típica de aquí consiste en comer una variedad de cebolleta llamada calçot que se asa directamente sobre llamas y se come con la mano, aderezados con una salsa especial llamada romesco. Después, las brasas se aprovechan para asar carnes y embutidos para el segundo plato. La época inicia en invierno y va hasta principio de la primavera. No hay nada que me guste más que ir de calçotada con amigos, sobre todo si es un entorno rural al aire libre.

Real american food in the center of Barcelona

A few years ago, when Obsessions wasn't even born, Ideotta and I went to New York to visit our friend Dave. For several days, Dave made us the biggest gastronomic tour of American food: hot dogs, hamburgers, cheesecake, bbq ribs, etc. Yesterday I had a déjà vu at Bernie's Diner American restaurant.

Hace unos años, cuando Obsessions aun no había nacido, Ideotta y yo estuvimos en Nueva York visitando a nuestro amigo Dave que es de allí. Durante varios días, Dave nos hizo la mayor ruta gastronómica de comida americana que os podáis imaginar: hot dogs, hamburguesas, tarta de queso, bbq ribs, etc. Ayer tuve un déjà vu en el restaurante americano Bernie's Diner.

Things to do and see in Seoul

Today I add a new country on the DESTINATIONS category: Korea! I really wanted to show you this trip, but between jet lag, various household chores and problems with my wifi... I couldn't until now! I spent five days in Seoul with my other half, Natalia, and my Korean friend (and best host in the world) Joo Yeon. Ah! and I had breakfast with Damien Rice!

Stockholm in 3 days

From Bergen we fly to Stockholm with Norwegian, a company we have already flown a couple of times and we love it! Cheap prices, (we paid € 23 for this flight) good service and, especially, free WIFI! We arrived at Arlanda Airport at 10.30 pm, but we had no problem with public transport at that time. At the end of the post I will give you tips on transport.

Desde Bergen volamos a Estocolmo con Norwegian, una compañía con la que ya hemos volado un par de veces y nos encanta! Precios muy baratos, (este tramo nos costó 23€) buen trato y, sobre todo, WIFI! Llegamos al Aeropuerto de Arlanda a las 22.30 de la noche, pero no tuvimos ningún problema en disponer de transporte público a esa hora. Al final del post os daré consejos prácticos sobre el transporte.

Rotterdam: bohemian way of life

We continue with Rotterdam. While Rotterdam is a city that can be discovered walking aimlessly, without a prior plan, I have some tips for you (tourist and not so tourist) and also some recommendations of unique places for eating and shopping.

Horta, a village in the city

A few days ago we went for a walk to Horta neighborhood. I think it was my third time there... I remember perfectly the first time. I wasn't still living in Barcelona and I was sleeping at my friend's Natalie. I came for a Bon Jovi concert (my biggest obsession). It was begining of 2000. I hallucinated when I saw that Horta was the last stop of the subway line.

Hace unos días fuimos a pasear al barrio de Horta. Creo que era la tercera vez que iba... Me acuerdo perfectamente de la primera vez que fui. Aun no vivía en Barcelona y me quedé en casa de mi amiga Natalie a dormir. Había venido al concierto de Bon Jovi (mi gran obsesión). Debía ser principios del 2000. Recuerdo alucinar al ver que era la última parada de la línea de metro que tuve que coger.

Mercantic with friends!

One of those sunny days that I manage to get out of the house early enough, I went with ideotta, Moriarty and m to Mercantic in Sant Cugat. The Mercantic is a market for antique furniture where you can find many things, at least, curious. The truth is that it was a wonderful day with my friends where we enjoyed a spectacular day and some amazing patatas bravas (quarter cut French fries with a spicy sauce) that produced us all cramps but that we would repeat without any hesitation!

Uno de esos días de sol en los que conseguí salir de casa prontito fui con ideotta, Moriarty y m al Mercantic en Sant Cugat. El Mercantic es un mercado de muebles antiguos donde puedes encontrar infinidad de cosas, como poco, curiosas. La verdad es que fue un día maravilloso con mis amigos donde disfrutamos de un día espectacular y de unas patatas bravas alucinantes que nos produjeron retortijones a todos, pero que repetiríamos sin lugar a dudas!

Japanese Countryside

We had conceived this trip to Japan as big cities vs. rural harmony, with doses of both in the same amount. Today I bring you a little bit of this Japanese rural harmony, Arashiyama  and its magical forest of bamboos.

Este viaje a Japón lo habíamos concebido como grandes metrópolis vs. armonía rural, con dosis de ambas por igual. Hoy os traigo un poco de esta armonía rural japonesa, Arashiyama y su mágico bosque de bambúes.

Berlin South of the Spree

The second day Berlin dawned bright and with an extraordinary wintery white light. The good weather also brought polar air and we had to wear all layers we could! The planed route was ambitious. We had for crossing Mitte until Kreuzberg and walk it thoroughly. From there to Templeholf, Neukölln and, finally, to the East Side Gallery. We almost did it, just some leg's pain for Ideotta...

El segundo día en Berlín amaneció resplandeciente y con una extraordinaria luz blanca de invierno. El buen tiempo trajo también aire polar y nos tuvimos que enfundar todas las capas que pudimos! La ruta era ambiciosa y nos proponíamos atravesar Mitte hasta llegar a Kreuzberg y recorrerlo a conciencia. De ahí a Templeholf, Neukölln y, por último, la East Side Gallery. Prueba superada si no fuera porque Ideotta se destrozó los pies...

Berlin meine Liebe

As you know, Berlin is a very special city for me. I remember my first visit to the city, it was love at first sight! That same day I told myself that I had to live there! And said and done, a year after I moved to this unique city. I lived for two years in Berlin, two unforgettable years. Since then, I always feel like I've to come back from time to time.

Como ya sabéis, Berlín es una ciudad muy especial para mi. Recuerdo el flechazo que sentí la primera vez que la visité. Ese mismo día me dije que ahí tenía que vivir yo! Y dicho y hecho, un año después me mudé a esta ciudad tan única. Dos años viví en Berlín, dos años inolvidables. Desde entonces, siempre siento que he de volver de tanto en tanto.

TOKYO III: Yūrakuchō Station, Ginza

As I commented in my previous post, we walked from the Imperial Palace to Ginza, one of the most luxurious neighborhoods in Tokyo. But before we arrived to Tokyo's Fifth Avenue filled with expensive and luxury shops, we found one of our favorite places in this trip: the Yūrakuchō Station.

Cómo os comentaba en el anterior post, del Palacio Imperial nos fuimos caminando a Ginza, uno de los barrios más lujosos de Tokyo. Pero antes de llegar a la Quinta Avenida tokiota con sus amplias calles repletas de tiendas de alto standing, descubrimos uno de nuestros sitios favoritos de este viaje: la estación Yūrakuchō.

Geneva (Switzerland)

Last month I stayed 5 days in Geneva visiting a friend. A friend I met when we both lived in Berlin, a friend of those who shows you speechless and every day, how lucky you are for having her, a Jiminy Cricket friend that moves like Beyoncé.

El mes pasado estuve 5 días en Ginebra visitando a una gran amiga. Una amiga que conocí cuando ambas vivíamos en Berlín, una amiga de las que te demuestran sin palabras, y cada día, la suerte de tener una amiga así, una amiga pepito grillo con movimientos de Beyoncé.

Cafe Cometa with Hanhny

​​It's been several years that I live in Barcelona, and every day I like more this city, especially with good weather (quite common, fortunately!) One of my favorite places for breakfast or for a snack is Cafe Cometa. Before Cometa, Cosmo held that title but, being of the same owners, Cometa have managed to challenge the saying: sequels are never good and become the more intimate and delicious version of the first one.

Llevo ya varios años viviendo en Barcelona, y cada día me gusta más, especialmente con buen tiempo (afortunadamente, algo bastante habitual!) Uno de mis sitios favoritos para desayunar o tomar algo es el café Cometa. Antes de Cometa, Cosmo ostentaba ese título pero, siendo de los mismos dueños, han conseguido desafiar al dicho: segundas partes nunca fueron buenas y convertirse en una versión más íntima y deliciosa del primero.

Earth Day

First day of June and I bring you a post from late April... Well, I'm sure many of you didn't even know when is the Earth Day! hahaha I didn't know neither that there was such a day until I met Ideotta and his little box of surprises. There are two events marked on his calendar that we can never miss: Earth Day and Bio-Culture Fair. If you cross him you would never guess that he is interested in this kind of events. You would rather imaging Ideotta at a rock concert than in a green event of this type. But, we will leave aside Ideotta and continue with the post.

Primer día de junio y yo os traigo un post de finales de abril... Pero bueno, seguro que muchos de vosotros tampoco sabéis cuándo se celebra el día de la tierra!!! jajajajaja Yo ni sabía que existía tal día hasta que conocí a Ideotta y su pequeña caja de sorpresas. Hay dos acontecimientos señalados en su agenda que nunca nos podemos perder: el día de la tierra y la feria Bio-Cultura. Si os cruzáis con él, jamás diríais que le puedan interesar esta clase de eventos. A Ideotta te lo esperas más en un concierto de rock que en un evento verde de este tipo. Pero, dejaremos a Ideotta de lado y sigamos con el post.

Unexpected Easter trip

Last Easter we had planned to spend a few days on the beach. Finally, the weather and  some unforeseen happenings forced us to drop the plan and improvise ... The technique we used to improvise consisted on open airbnb (you already must have noticed how much I like them), look for a coastal area near a green area on their map, make zoom, chose a village randomly and click the accommodation available in there. This way, we came across Valerie's beautiful home in Llançà and decided to go there. And so we started our improvised weekend in the Costa Brava!

En Semana Santa habíamos planeado pasar un par de días en la playa. Finalmente el tiempo y algunos imprevistos nos obligaron a descartar el plan e improvisar... La técnica consistió en abrir airbnb (a día de hoy podéis deducir que me flipa!), buscar una zona costera cerca de un área verde en su mapa, hacer zoom, leer Llançá y clicar los alojamientos disponibles. Cuando descubrimos la casa de Valerie decidimos que ese tenía que ser nuestro destino, Llançá! Y así improvisamos nuestro fin de semana en la Costa Brava!

In the nature: Montseny Natural Park

__I kind of have started liking to spend lazy days in the mountains. It has never been the case. I've always preferred the big cities and the sea. Clearly Ideotta's love to the mountains is slowly seeping into me (although it will never overtake my fascination to the sea!) This winter I have been twice in the Montseny, a beautiful natural park near Barcelona. First time in the shooting of the brand Visual Poetry Barcelona and the second time for a calçotada (typical catalonian grilled food) with friends.

Cada vez me gusta más pasar días tranquilos en la montaña. Nunca ha sido el caso. Siempre he preferido las grandes urbes y el mar. Está claro que el amor de Ideotta por la montaña está calando poco a poco en mi (aunque nunca podrá superar a la fascinación que me produce el mar!) Este invierno he estado dos veces en el Montseny, un precioso parque natural cerca de Barcelona. La primera vez para el shooting de la marca Visual Poetry Barcelona y, la segunda vez, de calçotada con mis amigos.

Bouzu, on our way to Japan!

Today is the beginning of four days of holiday! If the weather remains sunny, we will start the beach season. But people are whispering about rainy days approaching... This made me think of Bouzu, a Japanese restaurant we went to. Teru Teru Bouzu is a traditional handmade doll made of white paper or cloth that Japanese farmers began hanging outside of their window to bring good weather and to stop or prevent a rainy day.

Hoy comienzan cuatro esperadísimos días de fiesta ! Si el tiempo acompaña, creo que daremos inicio a la temporada playera . La gente murmura que vienen lluvias... Esto me ha hecho pensar en el restaurante japonés Bouzu. Teru Teru Bouzu es un pequeño muñeco tradicional japonés hecho con papel blanco o tela, que se cuelga en las ventanas los días de lluvia. Es, según la tradición, un amuleto que sirve para atraer el buen tiempo.
